How Do I Remember You?
(A Eulogy to Mommy Wanda)

It was year 2003 when I first met you as the mother of my former boyfriend and now my better half, Redel De Vera Castillo. Your sweet smile and warm greetings gave me an extraordinary hope that you would be my in-law someday and eventually it came true. I became an official part of your family in 2006 and I had the greatest chance to know you better. For more than 15 years, I have experienced the best versions of you.

A good friend, this is who you are to everyone. I have seen how you give your time to help a friend, comfort them when they needed someone to uplift their spirits and always extending your support without any hesitation.

A concerned wife, this is who you are to Daddy Lum. You may not have shown him your sincerest agitation but in your heart, you are thankful that he is the father of your children. The gratitude that you had, gave the chance to forgive and a restful peace of mind.

A caring sister, this is who you are to your siblings. They look up to you as their second mother and you never failed to give them your utmost support, care and love. During get together, I have seen how you enjoy your precious time with them. Laughing on jokes, playing like kids, endless sharing of thoughts, and taking care of each other creates a strong family attachment among your siblings.

A compassionate daughter, this is who you are to Mama Onsay. You have dedicated your time, effort and love to make her feel special. I have seen how you appreciated and adored her, giving the best of everything for a precious mother like Mama.

A loving mother, this is who you are to your children. You have raised your children so passionately, providing them everything to make their lives better – giving a safe home, adequate food, comfortable clothes, and the best education that they can have. You gave them your precious time, tireless effort and unconditional love which made them the greatest sons and daughters that you have hope for. They are your best trophies and there is no doubt that they became the best versions of themselves because of you.

And the best version of you that I have seen, a perfect grandmother, this is who you are to your grandchildren. You have given them your greatest love, effortless care and mindful concern which made them very close to you. They are your precious gems and no amount of wealth can replace their worth in your life.

Mommy Wanda, I deeply appreciate your kindness, your comfort, your support, your tender care, and your never ending love for us. You will always be remembered and we all hope that you are now safe and free from all your sufferings. Thank you for everything and we love you very much.
